A Medicine Walk for the Soul

A Medicine Walk for the Soul

Breathing and Walking ..

Blossom in my garden, which is in the South Downs National Park

Blossom in my garden, which is in the South Downs National Park.

With such beautiful weather recently, it was time to dust off the walking boots and venture out into the wilds of Sussex for a medicine walk!.

I’m very lucky to be living near the South Downs Way and in the South Downs National Park. What better way to spend part of my weekend than to honour my local ley lines, dragon lines or energy lines, across the spine of the downs from Devil’s Dyke to Lewes.

I took with me corn and tobacco as offerings for the ancestors and the land spirits or elementals who may need sustenance along the way.

My Intention

My intention for this walk was to find a clear way through a complicated situation I had been drawn into. Walking is great because it’s healthy and it’s free. It gives me such a sense of freedom and happiness when I can see for miles all around me.

Gorse on the South Downs

Gorse on the South Downs

Walking takes me back to being a child, hearing the larks in the summer meadows and smelling the gorse in Purbeck, Dorset. A friend says that when gorse isn’t in bloom, kissing goes out of season, meaning of course that gorse is always flowering – but it’s particularly gorgeous at this time of year. When I looked up the shamanic meaning of gorse, it said ‘enduring affection’. I loved seeing the bumble bees gathering the nectar from the gorse flowers. That was beautiful to witness and bee energy reminded me very much about the importance of community living. The bee also reminds me of hummingbird medicine, sipping the nectar of life in the sun, a liquid sugar mellowed by sunshine.

Beautiful Moments..

Dew Pond near Ditchling Beacon

Dew Pond near Ditchling Beacon

One of my favourite times was walking through a field of rape. This is a cultivated plant related to the brassica family, so it has quite a strong smell and a beautiful bright yellow colour that would cheer up anyone needing a boost of positive energy. Another special time was seeing the light reflected on the sparking water of the dew pond. There was just so much light out there on the surface !

Philip Carr Gomm inspired me to walk the land in Sussex with his book ‘The Druid Way’ .

As I walk the land where I live, I’m brought back into right relationship with the earth. I find it incredibly grounding and it helps me to be present. I got a sense of the thousands of people through the ages who walked on these paths before me. Different historical filters moved swiftly infront of my mind’s eye as I walked along the beaten chalk paths.

Another beautiful moment was when I walked back through Lewes and stumbled across a beautiful apothecary called A.S Apothecary with natural, local beauty products. I got to try out some of their skin serum on my sunburn. If you get a chance, you must go !

A medicine walk should really be walked alone, as then you’re not distracted by walking and talking. Then you notice the shapes of the clouds and the auditory , kinaesthetic, visual, instinctual messages you may receive from spirit. However, for me walking is also about celebrating relationship and friendship with another.

I’m doing another medicine walk this next weekend – I hope I’ve inspired you to try it!.

A Shamanic Space Clearing Ceremony

A Shamanic Space Clearing Ceremony

A Shamanic Space Clearing – Further Explorations.

My faood anenomes- like fallen stars on the ground.

Wood anenomes- like fallen stars on the ground.

Recently, a lovely lady rang about a local school that needed some shamanic space clearing. This was a larger space than the little well, 13 acres and when I looked at the satellite map, I could see that there were old sewage works and lots of forest!.

When I visited the site with an enthusiastic Mum of three boys who went to this school, I found out that there was a little bit of strained relations with the neighbours, as well as a slow dwindling of energy amongst the school community.

The History of the Land.

It was so interesting historically, built in 1901 – there was an old manor house with land that had been split up after the Second World War, with one of the largest walled gardens in the UK. There were wood anemones everywhere, it was a still and sunny day and perfect for what we were planning to do.

As we walked around the land’s perimeters, I felt nauseous when we reached the old sewage works. This was confirmed as stale energy by my pendulum. We opened sacred space near the most beautiful old bay tree in the centre of the woods and the wind caressed our faces, as if to say ‘thank you’ and ‘change’. I called to the land spirits and the ancestors for their support and guidance, then we made a plan together for the following day.

The Space Clearing Plan

This land had three major spots to clear: the old sewage plant, a portal in the north part of the land and a derelict building/caravan. The sewage plant in particular was affecting the ley lines that fed the school with positive energy. Ley lines are like veins of living energy that run through the earths crust. If they are blocked, then they stop the flow of good energy like abundance and helpful friends coming into our lives.

We created a water altar that included creative works by the children.

We created a water altar that included creative works by the children.

The next afternoon, we gave offerings of cornmeal, tobacco and chocolate along the land’s boundaries and to the four directions. We set up an altar dedicated to the element of water on a wooden chair made by the woodwork tutor in the forest. This would hold the energy work we were doing.

My new friend made several little altars for the elementals around the woodland, while I went with my husband and we drummed near the sewage plant. After smudging the area and ourselves, I was taken down to the root of the hucha, or stale energy and shown what needed to be cleared. I used my vogel chrystal to clear the heaviness, like a wand.

When the energy had been brought into balance I connected this spot with the Christ consciousness grid and the star beings. This allowed a very high vibration of energy to replace the heaviness that was there before.

A fire ceremony near the new 'Elder's Circle'

We went to the derelict house and eventually the portal later that afternoon to clear the heaviness and journey to the roots. With the portal, I didn’t need to seal it – just asked guardians of the light to guard it at all times. They would then only allow beings through for the highest good of all concerned. At each point of clearing you could really sense a  shift in the energy and the whole place seemed totally different when we had finished. It was good to have the three of us there, we were all exhausted by the end of the day!. We also felt a lot of support from the ancestors and the land spirits, who had been waiting a long time for us to arrive.

I was grateful to my client for having the strength and vision to ask for healing on the land, explaining all of this to the two main teachers, who turned out to be the most open and lovely people you could hope to meet.

It felt like a blessing to be asked to help out here. I’m hoping to do a despacho ceremony soon, to help the school community dream their world into being.

Feedback from The Staff !

A teacher in the school wrote recently…
Thank you so much Ali for the work you do. I have found myself being drawn into the woods more in the past couple of weeks, and it just feels right.
I was unexpectedly touched by the experience of the healing, and as the bluebells emerge, as the crops in the walled garden start to come to harvest, as the pool starts to show signs of coming to life, and the walk through the woods feels lighter and happier, I find it easy to believe in the power of this work. The universe affects us in ways that go much deeper than the surface of mind, and reach much farther than its operation in thought, and I am grateful for the time and love you bring to this work.

A Space Clearing Water Ceremony

A Space Clearing Water Ceremony

New Moon Blessings.

Shell Mandala 2 by J.L.E Crowe

This powerful new moon is a time of new beginnings and pathways. As Alberto Villoldo said when I was training… it’s important that we clear up our own river!.

In my last post I talked about  different ways of honouring water, as well as working energetically with it.

This time I would like to discuss space clearing and how to dedicate an altar that’s dedicated to water.

Recently I was invited to visit a nearby blocked well. Many years ago, outbreaks of cholera caused the wells in our village to be closed over. My friend Aoife, a sound healer – had lived in the village previously and had received a message from spirit about a trapped soul  at the bottom of a well. She hadn’t yet followed this up but a synchronistic incident led me, Aoife and another friend together last weekend. Aoife found out that the well she had been told about was at the front of this friend’s house!.

So, last night we went round to the house and made offerings of cornmeal and tobacco to the four corners of the land. We called in sacred space. Aoife had brought drums, a clearing bell and her beautiful voice.

Sound is very important, the sound waves help to keep the vibration raised enough to free the trapped or imbalanced energies. Rhythmical drumming or rattling also helps me to hold space and to step in between the worlds. Here, we are stepping outside of time.

Releasing a Trapped Spirit from The Well

Sacred Well

Sacred Well

We created an altar at the front of the house by the well. We lit two nightlights and blessed the well with spring water, smudging the whole area and ourselves with white sage. On the altar was a Q’ero symbol of yinantin, a supreme balance of masculine and feminine harmony, which was a red and white carnation.

Together, we tuned into the land and sensed that this trapped soul needed much love enveloped around it. He was so scared, he hadn’t necessarily fallen into the well but had become confused about where to find the light home. This could have been after a death due to illness at the time.

There he was in my mind’s eye as Aoife drummed and sang a gentle lullaby. I tuned into the land spirits and the water spirits, asking what they needed. They asked for a small chrystal. I opened my mesa and immediately knew which one had to go to the water in the well.

It took a long time for me to wiggle the brick in the ‘eye’ of the well free from the concrete block on top of it. Then, I could see the rounded brick walls leading vertically to the well bottom.

In gratitude, I threw down the chrystal and poured in some florida water. As Aoife held space, we called on this boy’s parents to help escort him to the light. We had the support of the land spirits, the water spirits and the ancestors to do this work.

This little boy spirit was ready to go and appreciated our efforts to coax him up to the light. I used my Vogel Chrystal to help him go and performed a small fire ceremony later to release him to the stars.

We were both happy that the process had been easy and closed sacred space.

Tips for Space Clearing.

macro-seashells_00280932Clearing the land can be as simple as this. One of my favourites is called ‘Clearing – a Guide to Liberating Energies trapped in buildings and land’ by Jim Pathfinder Ewing.

Even if you don’t need to do a full land clearing or release a trapped spirit, this time of year is excellent for clutter clearing.

You could tune into the water table beneath the earth, or the nearest body of water to check that it’s flowing freely and feels happy. If there’s a need for anything , you will receive a message through auditory, visual, kinaesthetic means or even just a ‘knowing’.

I will be talking more about space clearing soon. In the meantime if you have any questions, please contact me on ali@lucidhealing.co.uk.

Happy water cleansing and sacred ritual bathing!.

Sacred Water

Sacred Water

water lily

All water is sacred!

Whether it’s sacred water in the form of springs, streams, the ocean, or the rainwater that falls gently on our lands, there are some indescribable things happening around the world threatening to poison our water and potentially our lives.

I was so inspired by this beautiful film below by wild swimmer Natasha Brooks and also by the fact that it was World Water Day on 22nd March. I thought I would gather some inspiration together. I hope that this post gives you some ideas about how we can work with water in a shamanic way.

Experience the world as living energy, an exercise.

This wonderful exercise is taken from Elizabeth Jenkins Book ‘The Fourth Level’.

Experience your energy bubble, it normally extends out an arm’s length all the way round you. Experience what is outside it and then bring your awareness back into yourself. Extend your awareness towards a body of water closest to you. This could be a vast ocean, river, lake, small stream, pond or spring. If there is no body of water near you, ‘see’ in your mind’s eye the groundwater that exists almost everywhere below our feet. Perceive this water body as living energy and the most refined essence of the water, it’s ‘sami’. Enjoy this perception of the spirit of water, what does it need? Listen and see if you can send it your love and highest energies.

The Q’ero do a lot of their energy work from an energy centre just below their belly button called the Qosqo Nawi. Literally translated, this means the belly eye, or red earth eye. You can also use your Siki Nawi (Tail eye) , which is connected to the element of water. This is located in the same place as your root chakra. Either of these centres would be good to send your highest energies from. Imagine a cord or ‘seqe’ of light that goes from one of these two energy centres to the body of water in your mind’s eye or to the waters under the ground.

The Q’ero use water as a cleanser of the aura in their ceremonies and believe it’s an essentially female living energy that can be connected to and communicated with.

Masaru Emoto

Water has been proven to hold an energetic imprint of any substance that it comes into contact with. The work of Masaru Emoto demonstrates that not only physical and environmental substances change water but so do our thoughts, intentions, prayers and music.

Pulluted river and clean stream

Here is a beautiful fire ceremony for the ocean with a Mayan elder in Guatamala, songs by Nalini.

Water in ‘Ayni’ or reciprocity

Sacredwatertribe.org have suggested saying that together we could hold the intention of love and gratitude while sharing Ho’oponopono prayer.

Ho’oponopono Prayer:
Water, I am sorry,
Water, Please forgive me,
Water, Thank you,
Water, I Love you.

Ho’oponopono is a powerful Hawaiian prayer for forgiveness and reconciliation. It is a powerful incantation to the water and allows one the opportunity to make right on any wrong actions, negative thoughts, or negative energy that we have created. This prayer is received by water and thus water will reflected back peace and harmony.

Spring Equinox – A Shamanic Journey, From Chaos to Fertile Growth.

Spring Equinox – A Shamanic Journey, From Chaos to Fertile Growth.

Spring Equinox - plant your dreams.

Spring Equinox prompts us to plant our dreams

What is the meaning of the Spring Equinox?

Spring Equinox signifies the union of our masculine and the feminine sides. It also reflects the balance and the meeting point of the light and dark in our lives. From the point of the Spring Equinox, daylight is increasing and a new tide of life begins anew.

This is a time that can be seen as a way through chaos and into fertile possibilities, a new way of life. Traditionally we evoked the Goddess Oestre (the Goddess of Light , taken from the word Oestrogen). She can help us through the chaos before and after the equinox.

Why celebrate the Earth Calendar Festivals?

Its important for me to honour the Earth calendar dates that relate to our natural seasons in the UK. I also practice a shamanic tradition based in the High Andes of Peru, with the Q’ero nation.

I love organising small ceremonies and gatherings with friends to mark these special breathing points of the year. They mark a time when there’s a thinning of the veils between the worlds. This is where we can regain our balance, aligning with our dreams and intentions for the year.

At this time we can tune in more easily to what the earth, the elements and the natural world are  saying to us. While at this point of the earth’s evolution, I feel it’s important to slow down enough to connect with Mother Earth’s heart. When we sit quietly during meditation or ceremony, we can hear what she has to say.

Inspiring People for our own Gatherings and Ceremonies.

Glennie Kindred has helped me to shape my ideas around these eight earth calendar festivals. I also gained inspiration from the Druid path and a book called ‘Hedgewitch, a guide to Solitary Witchcraft’ by Rae Beth. Rae Beth talks of the two weeks before and after the Equinox as a time of transition , great stress and tension. She says that all the elements of life are being brought into balance, physically as day and night attain equal length.

Before we can step onto our new path , we need to let go of the old ways and let them break down!.

eggy altar

Decorate eggs to place on your Spring Equinox altar!

What can we do to honour the Spring Equinox?.

  • Meditation : We can ‘plant’ the sacred seeds we hold within us into the outer world. This can be done by symbolically planting herbs and flowers into compost and decorated pots.
  • We can decorate eggs, placing them in a willow basket on our altar. We can honour the time we have taken to incubate our ideas and plans for the coming year. State your intention as you hold your egg and pass it around your circle of friends to be blessed if you are holding a ceremony.
  • Take time to bless and honour the feminine and masculine side within you through journeying to those parts, sitting with them and evoking them through ceremony.
  • Get outside and feel the wind in your hair, blowing your prayers to the wind spirits for yourself, your family and friends, for the earth. Hang up a prayer flag or create your own flag for the garden.
  • Make something delicious with the spring greens around, like nettle soup, here is a delicious recipe by Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall.

    Rainbow dremcatchers

Use the air element on a windy day to send your Spring Equinox wishes and prayers to the world.

Enjoy your Spring Equinox (Monday 20th March at 10.14am, with the sun moving into Aries) whatever you may be doing !.

Sacred Space or Scared Space?

Sacred Space or Scared Space?

flowers

The most sacred space for me is in nature.

As a student of The Four Winds Training, Alberto came and talked to us about 2012. I remember he said that we would need to be able to hold our own ‘sacred space’, in order to help others do the same.

What happens when we open sacred space?

When we open sacred space, we are creating an invisible protective energy dome. This shuts out the ‘business’ of our modern world and helps us to re-connect with our inner selves, allowing healing for ourselves and others to unfold. We can call on the help of the natural world through invoking the four cardinal directions. This invites their animal archetypes and the universe to provide a safe space for us to do our ceremonial work or meditate. Sacred Space also allows us access to the luminous medicine men and women, who help us from the unseen worlds with our healing or ceremonial work. Opening sacred space helps me to breathe.

What is a Wirracocha?

Meditation with caduceus and chakras

Meditation with our Wirracocha open in sacred space can help us come into balance.

Another way of opening sacred space is by bringing down the light of our eighth chakra (or Wirracocha) around us like a golden cloak. The eighth chakra is the energy centre full of divine love. I see it almost like a fishing net of golden thread around me that can be gently woven with my fingers if I see any holes. When closed, the wirracocha can be seen like like the light of a thousand suns above our heads. It is above our physical body but within our energy field and once activated, it expands the power of our sacred space many times. It helps us to feel very connected to spirit, as well as relaxing whoever we’re working with. It is often felt as a warm blanket of golden energy that helps to shift or melt any heaviness we or our clients may be feeling.

Opening Our Wirracocha.

Open this sacred space by imagining your eighth chakra like a beautiful radiant sun above your head. It’s like an orb the colour of gold. Bring your hands over your chest into prayer pose.  Slowly raise your hands, still in prayer pose, until they are above your head and in your eighth chakra.  Sense your fingertips entering your eighth chakra, just above your head .Very slowly, like a peacock opening its fan, turn your palms outwards and then extend your arms, bringing them  down to your sides. Imagine that you are bringing this cloak of golden light or a golden net all around you. Now bask in this net of light surrounding you.

This is a perfect antidote to the scared space a lot of us inhabit at work, or in the outside world. It is a way of coming into Ayni, or in balance/ reciprocity with the world. In the Q’ero tradition, we can create an inner sanctuary that helps us to breathe with any uncertainty, vulnerabilty or anxiety we may be feeling. The druid path also offers an inner sanctuary called the grove, which can be created in sacred space and I would also encourage you to create a safe place that you can go to in your mind’s eye. This safe place can have a virtual altar, your power animals or guides can also meet you there. In my next blog I will be giving other ideas as to how to work with your archetypes and guide you to creating your own safe space.

Being at peace in today’s world, tips for shamanic sanity.

‘The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear’  Baba Ram Dass

Our mind opens to other universes when we take the time to go inside.

Our mind opens to other universes when we take the time to go inside.

1.Being Present.

Being present helps me to breathe and focus on the now. I can only act now and plan for the future. There are some really lovely mindfulness apps and websites around these days to help with anxiety about the future.

My favourite apps are Calm and Wildflowers. Calm has seven simple guided meditations to get you started.

Instead of worrying about things I can’t control in the future or lamenting the past, I focus on the next step I need to do right now and then the next. I follow the most positive energy currently available to me.

I don’t listen to the news or read the newspapers , because they are full of hucha or heavy energy (in this case, fear). Heavy energy holds me back from dreaming my world into being and drags me down. I still honour what is happening in the world with my prayers and intentions but I don’t buy into the ‘stories’ that are woven to keep us still.

2. Working With The Archetypes.

Shaman track their paths of destiny through the illusions, projections and fear.

I know I need Serpent when I’m struggling with any transition or change in my life. I call on him/her to help meshed my old life/habit, like a snake sheds it’s skin. Serpent connects me to my innocence, truth and beauty.

When I need to discern the right way forward and see what is holding me back, I know Jaguar can really help me. I am protected by Jaguar.

Calling on Hummingbird helps me to experience the sweetness and joy in any given situation. Hummingbird is also a token of love and creativity and connects us to our magical inner child. My inner child loves stories, painting, felt making and creating magic in my life.

If I need a bigger vision, I call on Eagle to help me see the highest potential in an idea or a project and the next step to help that to manifest. Eagle also shows me the tiniest detail, contact me if you would like further ideas on how to work with these archetypes.

Somebody who writes very well about the different archetypes that we can embody is Carolyn Myss. She has written a great book called ‘sacred contracts’, which I thoroughly recommend.

Night_Stars_Ocean_&_Couple_1920x12003.Creating our own Sacred Space.

Now it’s more important than any other to create our own sacred space around us as the world can become a topsy turvy and chaotic place at times. I don’t know about you but for me, time seems to be speeding up. I think that staying present, working as part of our community and creating circles of light with like minded people are the most important things we can do for ourselves, our friends and families and our communities.

4.Opening Sacred Space.

Opening sacred space is one of the most fundamental creative acts we can do for ourselves. This will become more and more important as we go through this transition from the old paradigm to the new. Having a special place where we feel safe and can then help others to feel the same sounds so simple but it’s paramount to our wellbeing. This could be a sacred place in your home or a power pace in nature. Being there and breathing helps me to slow down and hear the messages of Mother Earth through my heart and to collect my thoughts.

Click a Prayer for Creating Sacred Space  for the words.

5. Creating Circles of Light

Wherever you are, whatever you do – there is always an opportunity to create a circle of light. Whether this is through family, a gathering, a regular group activity or a ceremony, there are countless ways for us to open our hearts with each other and strive towards a higher purpose. See my last blog post for lots more ideas on the subject!

In her letter ‘We Were Made for These Times’ Clarissa Pinkola Estes said

One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Soul on deck shines like gold in dark times. The light of the soul throws sparks, can send up flares, builds signal fires, causes proper matters to catch fire. To display the lantern of soul in shadowy times like these – to be fierce and to show mercy toward others; both are acts of immense bravery and greatest necessity.

Struggling souls catch light from other souls who are fully lit and willing to show it. If you would help to calm the tumult, this is one of the strongest things you can do.

Let us catch light from each other and I will talk more about opening sacred space in my next blog post soon.

7 Tips for Community Building and Circles of Light.

7 Tips for Community Building and Circles of Light.

Friends and neighbours uplift our energy

Friends and neighbours uplift our energy !

1. Building a Community, Working With Synchronicity.

For me, being useful in the community helps me to feel needed and grounded. Connection with my friends and neighbours lifts my energy and vibration. Helping someone out often returns the favour threefold. In the Q’ero shamanic circles, or in the Q’ero community -there is no word for I in Quechuan. ‘Ayllu’ means tribe in Quechuan and I have found that as I work on my self and my own awareness, I meet others who are like-minded. I feel like they are part of my soul family or tribe, this is the beauty of synchronicity.

2. Heart Connection in Circles of Light Energy.

There are more and more circles of light being formed these days : Dreaming circles, Drumming Circles, Sound Baths, Women’s Groups. Why not create your own or find a group that speaks to you close by?. When I open my heart in gratitude to another fellow human being, we both can grow together.

3. Working with Prayers and Shamanic Ceremony.

Another way of being in a circle is by working remotely through our hearts in prayer or ceremony. There are a lot of prayer circles organised online these days, as well as meditations and events around the world at a certain time or on an arranged date. In my tradition, we open our mesa’s or medicine bundles on a Saturday night to connect with each other on an energetic level.

4. The Secret Life of Trees and the Importance of Growing Strong Roots.

We can learn a lot about community and circles of light from trees.

We can learn a lot about community and circles of light from trees.

Like a tree, communities and circles need to have a strong foundation or root structure that connects deeply to the earth, as well as the highest branches that connect to the stars, then it can create beautiful and tasty fruit!. Trees communicate with each other through fungi in the earth and have built up a huge network of communicating light energy across these lands. Unlike trees, humans are also able to create and manifest their creativity into beauty. There’s a great book called ‘The Secret Life of Trees, What They Feel, How They Communicate – Discoveries From a Secret World, check it out!.

When we connect to each other in a circle, we create a chain of invincibility with other circles in the world.

When we connect to each other in a circle, we create a chain of invincibility with other circles in the world.

5. Fire Circles and Dreaming Our World into Being.

There’s nothing quite like a fire or music to bring people together and as a shamanic practitioner, I often hold full moon ceremonies in the woods nearby. They help us to let go of a quality that we no longer need in our lives, or that may be holding us back. The full moon fire ceremonies are a chance for like-minded folk to gather together and re-connect. Anyone can join our circle to experience the essence of this beautiful energy that’s created when we re-connect with each other and ourselves. This in turn helps to build our awareness about how we can bring our own lives into balance and dream our world into being.

6. Lucid Healing Shamanism Community and Circles

This year I’m also planning to start a woman’s group in the autumn and there are other workshops and courses planned, you can see my events page for more details. Contact me if you would like more details of our Medicine Wheel taster days on 3rd June and 16th September 2017.

7. Weaving It All Together Like a Master Q’ero Weaver or Spider.

The Q’ero nation are master weavers, weaving their magic, stories and culture into their mesa cloths, their ponchos. Even their headbands on their hats tell people whether they are available for marriage or not!. To use this metaphor has really helped me to weave different aspects of my shamanic medicine into my own practice. We all have our own talents and skills to share with others in our own way. Creativity is another way to honour ourselves and others as we gift our highest talents to our community and the world at large.

Ali creating a shamanic ceremony called a ‘despacho’ with a group.

A wonderful way of enjoying precious moments with my friends, my family and the community can be through preparing a simple shamanic ceremony with them.

For me, ceremony is about setting my intention and working with ayni (in reciprocity). In the Q’ero tradition, we show gratitude before something happens, not afterwards. We are surrounded by the unseen worlds and they are always willing to help us when asked.

Shamanic ceremony is by it’s very nature creative. Each shaman or shamanic practitioner is different and the way things are executed always change according to the person and their passion for life. One of the most important elements is our intention and our breath. If we can blow all our passion and creative energy into the prayer bundles of our ceremony, it’s going to make a powerful mountain of natural healing energy for us all to enjoy over the months to come.

donaugustineceremonyloDespacho Ceremony

A despacho is an envelope of dreams that holds our prayers and wishes for the future. It is made up completely out of natural ingredients and all of them are things that you can find in your kitchen cupboards. The despacho brings us back into right relationship with our world and with ourselves.

This is an offering to the earth and heavens, a prayer of gratitude, in the spirit of service to the family/community/society/community that we live in. Please see my blog post for more details as to how to make one for yourself.

Altar

Have a look at my blog post about creating your own altar, which is such a personal and creative act in itself.

Creating The Earth Festivals as Shamanic Ceremony.

I follow a Celtic tradition, as well as the Q’ero path and celebrate the earth festivals of the year for Europe:  These are the Winter Solstice, Imbolc, Spring Equinox, Beltain, Summer Solstice, Lammas , Autumn Equinox and Samhain.  Each time of year is very different and pertinent to the type of activity we choose. Glennie Kindred is one of the people who has inspired me to get together with friends and into the community. She has written some really beautiful books, check her out :). I will be writing about ways of celebrating the Spring Equinox very soon.

Ritual and ceremony brings the sacred into our every day life, where we can honour ourselves and our ancestral lineage.  Take the opportunity to connect with the unseen worlds and our guides at these turning points of the year.  Spend time with others and celebrate the Full Moon and New Moon Fire Ceremony, it can be great fun!.

A ceremony called life: A butterfly enjoying the sun on her wings

A Simple Creative, Daily Rhythm

The most simple ceremony is your daily rhythm of life: Walks in nature, open fires, home cooked food, reading, music. Whatever it is, make most of the simplest pleasures available to you and to your life. Life for me is a treasure of friendship, personal time and weaving the beautiful magic that is for me creativity and healing. This in turn, helps me to feel more relaxed and prepared to conquer those difficult times and creative blocks when they arise. While researching for this post, I found a beautiful book on Cygnus Review called ‘A Ceremony Called Life’, which is definitely worth a look. As I was bringing up my small children ‘ Simple Abundance – A book of Comfort and Joy ‘ by Sarah Ban Breathnach really helped me on a daily basis. Sometimes it takes us a lifetime to hone our daily rhythm to our changing needs, what speaks to your soul?.

Come and join us, contact me for more details of the ceremonies dates this year or go to My Meetup Group ‘Wild Star’ . Join me on my Facebook page Lucid Healing Shamanism, where all my ceremonies are listed, or ask for your email to be added to my database – ali@lucidhealing.co.uk.

Wishing you an infinite resource for your well being.

May you walk in beauty

Shamanic Journeys and Creative Blocks.

Shamanic Journeys and Creative Blocks.

Learn to get in touch with the silence within yourself and know that everything in this life has a purpose.  There are no mistakes, no coincidences. All events are blessings given to us to learn from.

rainbow109The Creative Flow

My creativity has sometimes been like a flowing river and at other times like a trickling stream. Some days it slows to a complete halt and I feel like there’s nothing I can do about a creative block. However, there are plenty of shamanic tools that we can use to help that flow run strongly once more. A creative block needs unravelling with patience, self compassion and love.

Having your own sacred space or quiet spot in the house can help you to feel nurtured and supported into re- discovering your creative spark.

Clearing Our Rivers

Our healing process can happen in between other important or every day life events. Sometimes it’s easier to not look at the parts of ourselves that need to come into balance, because then we can pretend it’s all fine. Sometimes our bodies cry out for a creative approach and get sick if we don’t listen to the little messages. (What could those messages be?)

Listening to your little Voice

I urge you to really listen to what your little voice is telling you, even if it sounds crazy. Healing doesn’t happen in the sequence of 1,2,3 – it can appear quite random and after 3, you may need to go back to 1 for a bit and then revisit -5. We have layers like an onion of our heavy patterns, self beliefs and power loss hidden in our luminous energy field. It takes time for the healing process to shed one layer and then reveal another.

Tim DrummingDrumming and Shamanic Journeying.

Shamanic ceremonies often use a drum. I often take a shamanic journey to a creative medicine space, in order to tune into my little voice more keenly. Sometimes I use creative visualisation or journeying techniques – asking to be guided what to make or paint. When we need to find a balance between the inner and the outer worlds, drumming or journeying can help us to access aspects of ourselves that are holding us back from dreaming our world into being. In this Shamanic traditon, we journey to the three main worlds: Lower/the underworld (Ukhu Pacha), the middle world (Kay Pacha) and the upper world (Hanaq Pacha).

Drums are such a personal piece of your tool kit. You can either :

  • Make your own drum,
  • Have it made for you out of deerskin or hide
  • Buy a synthetic Remo drum available in most good music shops
  • Use a CD/MP3 recording.

Here are a few ideas for journeys, contact me if you would like any more info on how to journey safely.

  • Journey to a creative safe space where you can ask questions about the next step.
  • Ask your power animal to help you solve a creative problem and show you the way forward.
  • Ask your guide to show you how to strengthen your river of creativity.
  • Journey to the stars to see your highest potential.
  • Journey above the stars to ask for a gift for your highest destiny.

There are endless ideas, have fun !

In my next post I will talk more about creativity and ceremony.

May you fly with beauty
